Our Kitchen Remodeling Process
From the first phone call to cooking your first meal in a brand-new kitchen — here’s exactly what to expect when you remodel with ReadyGO.
Free In-Home Consultation
We visit your home, assess your current kitchen layout, and listen to what’s working and what isn’t. We discuss how you cook, how your family uses the space, and what your dream kitchen looks like — open concept, more counter space, better flow, new appliances. No cost, no obligation.
Design & Material Selection
Our team creates a custom layout optimized around the kitchen work triangle — sink, stove, and refrigerator. We guide you through every selection: cabinetry style, countertop material, backsplash tile, hardware finishes, flooring, lighting, and paint colors. We bring samples to your home so you can see everything in your actual space and lighting.
Detailed Estimate & Scope of Work
You receive a comprehensive written proposal with line-item pricing, material specifications, a clear project timeline, and a complete scope of work. Every cost is transparent and documented — cabinet costs, countertop fabrication, plumbing, electrical, labor. No vague allowances, no surprise change orders.
Permits & Scheduling
If your project involves electrical, plumbing, gas, or structural work, we handle the entire permitting process with your local Central Ohio building department — Columbus, Dublin, Westerville, wherever you are. Once permits are approved and materials are ordered, we lock in your start date and build out a week-by-week schedule.
Construction & Final Walkthrough
Your dedicated project manager keeps the build on schedule with weekly progress updates. Our crew protects your home, contains dust with plastic barriers, and cleans up daily. We help you set up a temporary kitchen station so life continues during the build. When construction wraps, we do a thorough final walkthrough together, complete any punch list items, and hand you the kitchen you’ve been dreaming about.

Everything Central Ohio homeowners need to know before starting a kitchen remodel — from costs and timelines to layouts and materials.
Kitchen remodels in Central Ohio typically range from $15,000 for a cosmetic refresh with new countertops and cabinet refacing to $75,000 or more for a full gut renovation with custom cabinetry, quartz or granite countertops, new appliances, and reconfigured layouts. ReadyGO Remodeling provides a free, itemized estimate so you know exactly where every dollar goes before we start.
Most full kitchen remodels take between 4 and 10 weeks from demo day to final walkthrough. A straightforward cabinet-and-countertop swap can be done in 3 to 4 weeks, while projects involving wall removals, plumbing relocation, or custom cabinetry with longer lead times extend closer to 10 to 12 weeks. We build a detailed project schedule before any work begins and keep you updated weekly.
During a full kitchen remodel, your kitchen will be out of commission for most of the project. We recommend setting up a temporary kitchen station — a folding table with a microwave, coffee maker, and portable cooktop works great. We’ve helped hundreds of Central Ohio families plan around the disruption, and most homeowners tell us it’s far more manageable than they expected.
It depends on your goals and budget. Refacing involves keeping the existing cabinet boxes and replacing the doors, drawer fronts, and adding a new veneer — it’s faster and typically 40–50% less expensive than full replacement. Full replacement makes sense if your cabinet boxes are damaged, your layout needs to change, or you want to upgrade to soft-close hinges, pull-out shelving, and custom organization systems. We’ll assess your existing cabinets during our free consultation and give you an honest recommendation.
Quartz is by far the most popular countertop material we install — it’s durable, non-porous, low-maintenance, and available in hundreds of colors and patterns. Granite remains a strong second choice for homeowners who want natural stone character. Butcher block is popular for islands and prep areas, and solid surface materials like Corian work well for budget-friendly renovations. We source from trusted Central Ohio fabricators and can bring samples to your home.
It depends on the scope. Cosmetic upgrades like painting, new countertops, and cabinet refacing typically don’t require permits. However, if your project involves electrical work, plumbing changes, gas line modifications, or structural changes like removing a wall, most Central Ohio municipalities — including Columbus, Dublin, Westerville, and Delaware — require building permits and inspections. ReadyGO handles all permitting so you never have to visit a city office.
Yes — open-concept kitchen conversions are one of our most requested projects. We start with a structural assessment to determine if the wall is load-bearing. If it is, we install a properly engineered beam (LVL or steel) to carry the load, then remove the wall to open the space. The result is a bright, connected kitchen-dining-living area that transforms how your family uses the home. We handle structural engineering, permitting, and all finish work.
The best layout depends on your space, how you cook, and how your family moves through the kitchen. The most popular layouts we build are L-shaped kitchens with an island (great for open-concept homes), U-shaped kitchens for maximum counter space and storage, galley kitchens for smaller or narrow spaces, and large islands with seating that double as dining and homework stations. We design every layout around the “kitchen work triangle” — optimizing the distance between your sink, stove, and refrigerator.
A mid-range kitchen remodel in Central Ohio typically returns 60–80% of the investment at resale, making it one of the top home improvements for ROI. In high-demand neighborhoods like Dublin, Powell, Upper Arlington, and New Albany, an updated kitchen can significantly reduce time on market and increase offer prices. Even if you’re not selling soon, a remodeled kitchen is the room you’ll enjoy most every single day.
Yes — design guidance is included with every project. Our team walks you through cabinetry styles, countertop materials, backsplash options, hardware finishes, flooring, lighting, and paint colors. We bring samples to your home, create layout drawings, and help you make selections that fit your style and budget. We work with trusted local suppliers across Central Ohio so you get quality materials at competitive prices.
The most common mistakes we see: (1) Choosing aesthetics over function — a beautiful kitchen that doesn’t work for how you actually cook is a missed opportunity. (2) Skimping on storage — you can never have too many drawers and pull-outs. (3) Poor lighting — a single overhead fixture isn’t enough; plan for layers including under-cabinet task lighting, pendants over the island, and ambient recessed lighting. (4) Ignoring ventilation — a proper range hood vented to the exterior is essential. (5) Not budgeting for the unexpected — we always recommend a 10–15% contingency for surprises behind walls.
Yes. We partner with trusted lending institutions to offer flexible financing plans with competitive rates. Many Central Ohio homeowners qualify for low monthly payments that make even a full kitchen transformation affordable.
